Donna Cali Art Story
Two years ago, Rick, Damien’s brother, worked at the restaurant as a waiter and introduced us to Damien. Damien went to a culinary school and is passionate about baking.
My first impression of Damien was that he was very timid yet very kind. My husband and I had a bet that he wouldn’t last very long. Alfredo gave him a week, but I told him I would prove him wrong.
I saw how passionate Damien is about his baking and how much potential he has in this field.
One day, I told Damien that he had to widen his horizon and learn everything the restaurant business offers. He has the talent and the perseverance to thrive in this business, and I want to see him flourish. And without any hesitation, he agreed to try it out.
I was so impressed when he started working at the hot station at the start of this year. You can see how passionate he is about the food he prepares. He listens to my advice and, at the same time, thinks outside the box. He takes everything to a different level, and customers start recognizing who is cooking in the kitchen.
Since then, he has been like a shadow of me in the kitchen. He takes so much pride in his cooking.
Christmas Exchange
Last Christmas, he got me a canvas because he knows I love to paint. So in return, I decided to create this beautiful masterpiece to make him feel how proud I am of how far he has come in his culinary profession.
I painted this while listening to the same music he listens to and thinking about how bright and resourceful this man is.
I have never met a young man so in tune with life, and I am always grateful for having Damien in our lives.
